Special Assessments - Pitkin County Treasurer
Please pay the Pitkin County Treasurer if your property has an Aspen Consolidated Sanitation District special assessment. Do not pay Aspen Consolidated Sanitation District for a Pitkin County special assessment.
Aspen Consolidated Sanitation District (ACSD) submits delinquent accounts to Pitkin County at the end of each year. If your account has a balance due on June 30th for subsequent missed quarterly payments, we will send a certified letter asking you to cure the account. If at the end of December your account is not cured your property information is sent to the treasurer with the account balance due and Pitkin County will add a special assessment to your property taxes. Pitkin County and ACSD will add penalties and interest to the total quarterly rate.
The Pitkin County Treasurer collects these funds and reimburses ACSD. Therefore, if you pay the balance due on an account that has been submitted to the county for a special assessment, you will likely be paying these fees twice. We make every effort to return funds that are paid to us under this circumstance. We process thousands of payments each quarter and inevitably we will not catch all that have been submitted for special assessment.
If you have any question regarding if the balance due on your property has been submitted to the Pitkin County Treasurer please contact us and we will be happy to let you know.
